Sabrina Kumar earned a BA in music from Converse College and a MM in flute performance from Central Washington University. She has very fond memories of attending the Brevard Music Center for four summers as a teen. She feels extremely fortunate to be participating in such a diversity of musical experiences, including playing with area symphonies, Asheville Lyric Opera, Haywood Arts Repertory Theater, Asheville Community Theater, and several chamber music ensembles. She collaborated with bowed psaltry maker Rick Long on 3 albums of folk music, and with Paul Tate and Deanna Light on 6 albums of liturgical music. She is grateful that some of these groups allow her to indulge her addiction to learning and playing multiple instruments, including guitar, voice, recorders, baroque flute, single and double reeds, dulcimer, and most recently, harp. In her free time, she loves taking photos of the beautiful area in which she lives, and making jewelry.
